I was in Vancouver on Wednesday for the Dixie Chicks concert and it was awesome (as usual)! This was my third time seeing them in concert. My best friends from high school and I made a pact that we would always meet together in Vancouver to see “the Chicks” in concert no matter where we were at the time. Ya… Anyway, only one of my friends could make it this time (and not one of those high school friends), which was a bit of a bummer, but we still had a fabulous time together. It’s kinda sad when you get to the point in your life when everyone goes their separate ways and people lose touch. So it was just Aimee and me but she’s super fun so it was ok. (We met in university.) We stayed the night at a hotel just a couple blocks away and it was great not having to wait a million years for a cab after the show. Thursday morning we had breakfast in bed -my favourite!
Back to the concert: before the show started they showed a preview of the Shut Up and Sing documentary about “the incident” that took place back in 2003 and follows the band up to the present. I can’t wait to see it (I’m totally into documentaries right now). One of the best parts of the night however, was the lady sitting next to us. I originally had three tickets and ended up selling one to a scalper -I ate about $30 of the ticket price. Sure enough, the lady that came in and sat next to us paid the scalper DOUBLE what I originally paid. She didn’t care though and was happy to be there. She was a middle-aged, recently divorced woman who was looking to be cheered up and Aimee and I reminded her of her daughter. Well, she just turned into our sugar-momma and insisted on paying for our drinks all night! We were just happy we could cheer her up but I don’t say no to free beer! It was a great night.
Tony also flew to Vancouver for the night to meet with business associates that evening and all day Thursday. He stayed in another hotel in another area of the city however. (Why pay for one hotel room when you can pay for two?) So I was pretty much on my own all day since Aimee had to leave for home at nine in the morning. I wandered around downtown and said hello to my sister at her work (she just moved to Vancouver). Did some damage shopping: a pair of boots, a pair of shoes, purse, earrings, cute little dress, hat, and bracelets all at fabulous deals! I love shopping in the big city! They have stores like Aldo liquidation! Yay!
In pug news, my breeder of choice has (hopefully) a pregnant pug who will be delivering puppies mid December and ready for new homes by the end of February. She has also bred another pug and those puppies will be ready end of March.
Ahhh, le sigh. I have to wait so long.

This blog is dedicated to my (future) dog -yes I’m sad, I know, I don’t even have the dog yet. Tony and I are in the process of locating a breeder for our future pug “Giggs” -hence the name of the blog. We have decided on a fawn male and will hopefully have one shortly after we move into our new home mid December. I want to document the whole “puppy process” on the blog so I’m starting early. This way I can document everything right from square one.
I’ve wanted a pug for about a year and a half now but our building strata does not allow pets so our plans were put on hold until we could get a place of our own (we rent right now). Anyway, this summer we purchased a townhouse in a development that allows pets and we’re just waiting for the place to be built. It’s been a long wait and we’re definitely getting anxious to move. In the meantime I have become “pug possessed” and I’ve researched everything pug. (My friends and family all think I’m nuts and need help.) In my internet travels, I came across some blogs that people have written about their dogs. That sealed the deal for me and made me love pugs even more and made me want to start my own pug blog. I’ve thought of blogging in the past but couldn’t really see good reason to because I didn’t just want to talk about myself (boring). I think that my pug will be the perfect platform!
Starting the blog now is also another way to bide my time until I actually get the dog since I’ve researched as much as I can about the breed. I’ve already purchased about all Tony will let me buy since I don’t actually have the dog yet (now you probably think I’m nuts too) so I need something else to distract me. Right now I’m waiting for several breeders to get back to me about the availability of puppies for December so I’m biting my nails here. I think I’ve been patient enough. Everyone I know thinks I’m obsessed (ok, just a little) and they’ve heard about all they want to hear on the subject so now I am venting to the blogging community.
