Done Venting -See the Cute Stuff!

December 14, 2006

Enough talk about the shoddy developers! Look at the super cute things I have purchased so far for Giggs!

This is his dish:

These are the clothes I’ve bought so far:

Toy beaver and newspaper (both squeak):

This is the little box I’m keeping it in for now:

Now if only I had the dog itself…

There is soooooo much stuff out there that I want to get for the pug but I’m trying to pace myself. I don’t want to buy too many shirts because he’ll just grow out of them really fast. Some of the larger items will also have to wait because we still have to buy some human-sized furniture for our place first.

One Week and Counting!

December 12, 2006
We move in exactly one week from today! I can’t wait! We’re adding up all the last minute costs and holy crap! We have lawyers’ fees, movers’ fees, plus we have to buy odds and ends once we move in (shower curtains and that type of stuff). It sure adds up in a hurry. We also have to buy blinds for our windows (EXPENSIVE!) and we need some key pieces of furniture such as a table and chairs. We decided we’d like to have the family over on Christmas Eve so it would be nice to have a table by then, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Although we move in next Tuesday, we actually get possession this Friday. The weekend is going to be spent (re)painting the place. The builders did a really shitty job. They were “under the impression” that since we planned to repaint anyway, they only needed to prime the walls. Then they go into this spiel that we didn’t actually pay for a paint job anyway so we’re not technically getting ripped off. WTF?! Everyone else got their places painted! It was included in the cost of the unit! Truth is, they’re in a rush a cutting corners BIG TIME! Now Tony’s dad and his guys have to do twice the work they originally planned on because they now have to sand before they paint, and the garage is not being painted, so now they have to do that too! We don’t want to leave it as exposed drywall. We’re just lucky that we have Tony’s dad to do this for us. What about everyone else they stiff?

We’re slightly pissed off to say the least. Trust me, they will get away with nothing when we do our walk through. We will be evil with the green tape! Shoddy service I tell ya, and apparently that’s the norm with these types of developers. Real estate developments are booming in our town so there’s a shortage of workers and they get away with mediocre work. Tony grew up working for his dad and they paint high-end custom homes so the quality of work and the expectations are miles higher. I just want it to be over so we can move in already!

Exactly Why I HATE Moving

This is the current state of our condo:

I think the green roll of tape is winning:

See where I sit with my laptop?

I keep asking myself when the madness will end.

Only Insane People Move

December 10, 2006
Ok, been awhile since I last updated (my bad) but things have been super crazy around here. We take possession of our new townhouse on December 15th and we move in on the 19th. Our condo is presently a war zone of boxes and packing mess! I HATE moving with a passion and can’t wait to be finished. This is such a bad time of year to be doing this, I haven’t even started Christmas shopping! Feeling the pressure I tell ya! I’m also being evaluated at work on top of this.

The bright side is that we’ve hired a moving company so we don’t have to worry about actually moving our stuff, just the packing and unpacking (bad enough in my books). We’ve also finally finished our Christmas letter and hopefully we’ll get that out with the cards this week sometime.

It’s hard to enjoy the season when all this is going on but we’re trying. I can’t wait to get settled into our new place and finally put up a few Christmas decorations. Obviously we didn’t bother to do that here, so we look very Grinchy right now. Our actual Christmas celebrations will be low key this year and hopefully we can get settled soon enough to have the family over to our new place for a nice dinner/celebration on Christmas Eve. We’ll see.
