Hello! We’ve returned from our trip up north (Smithers, BC) and no, you didn’t miss that post, I’m one of those paranoid people who don’t post that they’ll be away from home for a time just in case…
Our trip was good, the pups were well-behaved and we made it 12 hours in the car each way! I’ll post pics tomorrow (I didn’t take very many) and recap then. I just wanted to pop in and let everyone know that the absence is over.
On a side note: I think Giggs is suffering from hot spots. Tony caught him munching on his back leg tonight and upon inspection we’ve discovered several red, shiny, scaly-looking lumps all over his hind legs and a couple on his belly. A couple are about the size of my thumb nail and there are several more smaller ones. I’m not sure how he got all these bumps but there were TONS of mosquitoes up north and he had a couple run-ins with ant hills during the trip, which leads me to believe they’re insect bites that he’s aggravated. I dabbed them with hydrogen peroxide and he’s leaving them alone at the moment. Mea appears to be bump free. More vet. Yay. Hopefully the poor boy doesn’t require drugs.
UPDATE:
Poor Giggs is still munching on his hind legs :(
He left them alone all day but the bumps seem to bother him at night. I took him to the vet today and instead of our normal vet we were seen by a really young guy. Anyway, $60 to tell me he’s not sure what the bumps are! He said they could be insect bites and to keep cleaning them and keep Giggs from chewing. Mea goes in for a booster on the 23rd and if Giggs’ bumps aren’t gone by then they’ll cut one off and test it. Hopefully we won’t have to do that. The vet also suggested antibiotics but after I asked him if they were necessary he said no, only if the bumps get infected from Giggs chewing them. So I’ll keep cleaning them and I’ll get him some Benedryl and see if than helps. I’ll also try the witch-hazel that Amanda recommended.
Oh yeah! One more thing. Mea has an obsession with dragging her butt on the floor tonight. I don’t smell anal glands and they’re not swollen (isn’t she too young for that still?) so I’m not sure what’s up with her. I’m gonna go bathe her little rear and see if that helps…
When it rains it pours!

We have a BIG picture that hangs above our bed (it’s about two-and-a-half feet square) and I dusted it today…
This is what I find:
UNDER THE GLASS!
I guess I’ll wait and see if it makes it’s way out or if it dies under the glass, in which case I have to take the ginormous frame apart to get the carcass out! Cuz I need one more thing to do!
You know, if it was a dark mat (anything but cream), I’d leave it there.
UPDATE: The spider is now all curled up and appears to be dead. I’m disappointed it didn’t get out, especially since now I have to get it out myself. *sigh*
