Madonna!

November 3, 2008

I’m way behind in posting because we were in Vancouver last week for four days.

On Thursday night we got to see her Madgesty (heh heh, I stole that from someone but can’t remember who) in her first ever concert in Vancouver!  It was at BC Place stadium and there were over 50,000 people there.  It was pretty kick ass.

She didn’t have a traditional opening act, instead there was a DJ but he stopped playing around 8:30 and Madonna was supposed to come on at 9:00 but it was closer to 9:30 before she took the stage.  So there was an hour of just waiting around, which was lame.  Thank goodness for all the uber-fans dressed in their Madonna costumes and 80s gear or we would have had nothing to look at.

Madonna played for about two hours and the performance itself was pretty awesome.  The lights, screens, dancers, stage, etc. were amazing and Madonna herself is a sight to behold.  I cannot believe she’s fifty! Holy crap that girl can still work it and her body is in insane shape!  She has He-Man thighs!

(I snagged this photo off Faceb**k)

Our seats were decent so I could see what was going on on stage as well as a good view of the big screen. Our friend Frans snagged all of our tickets one minute after they went on sale and this was the best he could come up with.  It think the entire stadium sold out in less than 20 minutes!  We’re obviously hurtin’ for some Madonna here in Canada. LOL

I took some pics and videos but my pics are pretty blurry and my little camera microphone was overwhelmed by the loud music so my videos sound really bad.  But here’s some pics before the show started while we killed time:

I have to say my favorite songs were her remixes of Vogue and Like a Prayer.  I’m such a sucker for 80s Madonna so I was pleased :)

We had planned to go to an after party at Celebrities (a gay nightclub on Davie St) where there was a drag queen show in Madonna’s honor.  Our friend knows one of the organizers and she got us on the list but my stupid throat infection was acting up and I was in serious pain after the concert so we had to pass.  I was super bummed because I have a feeling that show would have come close to Madonna herself. Le sigh.

I’l leave you with a video that was played at the concert:

I think we know who she’ll be voting for tomorrow…

Bath Time for the Stuffies

October 25, 2008

I did a stuffy wash yesterday and a slight ‘thinning of the herd’.  Here’s the story in pictures:

Mama, why are all our toys in the laundry basket?

IMG_2830_small

Because it’s bath time for the stuffies!

Hey!  Where’d they go?!

Found them!

All clean!  Smells good!

Newer Bigger Bed

October 24, 2008

Mea decided a while ago that she no longer wanted to sleep in her crate and she would make such a fuss in the morning that we decided not to shut the door anymore and take our chances with the bedroom carpet. To me, my sleep is way more valuable than the stupid carpet!  (I will have the carpet properly cleaned when she’s fully house trained.)

Instead of Mea spazzing out at 4am, she would sleep until 6-6:30 so we both felt it was the right decision.

Poor Giggs suffered the consequences…

The bed we bought for Giggs was the perfect size for one pug but not two.  Giggs got booted to the floor by his bed-hogging little sister or he would go sleep in her crate.  Such a gentleman.

After a couple months of bedtime shenanigans and several emails back and forth with Amanda at Pawhaus, I found the pugs a bigger bed!  It arrived within a week of ordering (so we’ve had for a month already) and I finally got around to taking a picture and posting about it!  Mea was my model:

Now both the pugs have plenty of room to stretch out!  Their blankies even fit :)

The old bed has been moved downstairs for a day bed and Mea enjoys chewing on the zipper and otherwise beating the crap out of it when we’re not home.  She obviously prefers her new bed.

Thanks Amanda!

We Got A Present!

October 23, 2008

Wow!  I’ve been a huge blog slacker!  Since I last posted a few things have happened in the pugs’ world, the most exciting of which…

we got a package from Lisa and the Pug Posse!

IMG_2808_small

We were the winners of her 700th blog post draw!  Here’s what we received:

Pumpkin crumble, New Hampshire Maple syrup, a New Hampshire postcard, Garlic Chipotle Dip mix, Vermont Chardonnay Herb Blend, Apple Bayberry Pine Auto Scent satchel, a Pumpkin Spice candle, and two toys for the puggies -which we opened right away, hence no packaging.

The Hedgehog is looking a little rough because they’ve already mauled the poor thing repeatedly.  The bone stuffy found sanctuary under the couch so it’s looking a bit better lol!

Thank you to Lisa and the Pug Posse for this awesome Autumn surprise!  The box smelled so good when it arrived!  I have to remember to do a post when I make the Pumpkin crumble!

Like I Said, A Wild Woman

October 2, 2008

I got a surprise this morning while in the shower…

Some small furry company!  (That’s my foot, bottom left)

I think we’ve been correct in thinking that Mea likes the water.  She always whines at me when I get into the shower or the bath.  Well today, she did something about it!  Instead of just looking over the edge of the tub and shuffling back and forth, she managed to jump it!  Crazy girl!

She didn’t want back out either!  She wandered around -right under the spray! -and licked at the shower streams, getting completely soaked!  Tony took a few pictures then I passed her over to him so he could towel her off.  She was in with me for a few minutes while he scrambled for the camera.

Next time I take a bath I’m going to have to shut the door if I don’t want a tub-mate!
