I’m way behind in posting because we were in Vancouver last week for four days.
On Thursday night we got to see her Madgesty (heh heh, I stole that from someone but can’t remember who) in her first ever concert in Vancouver! It was at BC Place stadium and there were over 50,000 people there. It was pretty kick ass.
She didn’t have a traditional opening act, instead there was a DJ but he stopped playing around 8:30 and Madonna was supposed to come on at 9:00 but it was closer to 9:30 before she took the stage. So there was an hour of just waiting around, which was lame. Thank goodness for all the uber-fans dressed in their Madonna costumes and 80s gear or we would have had nothing to look at.
Madonna played for about two hours and the performance itself was pretty awesome. The lights, screens, dancers, stage, etc. were amazing and Madonna herself is a sight to behold. I cannot believe she’s fifty! Holy crap that girl can still work it and her body is in insane shape! She has He-Man thighs!
(I snagged this photo off Faceb**k)
Our seats were decent so I could see what was going on on stage as well as a good view of the big screen. Our friend Frans snagged all of our tickets one minute after they went on sale and this was the best he could come up with. It think the entire stadium sold out in less than 20 minutes! We’re obviously hurtin’ for some Madonna here in Canada. LOL
I took some pics and videos but my pics are pretty blurry and my little camera microphone was overwhelmed by the loud music so my videos sound really bad. But here’s some pics before the show started while we killed time:
I have to say my favorite songs were her remixes of Vogue and Like a Prayer. I’m such a sucker for 80s Madonna so I was pleased :)
We had planned to go to an after party at Celebrities (a gay nightclub on Davie St) where there was a drag queen show in Madonna’s honor. Our friend knows one of the organizers and she got us on the list but my stupid throat infection was acting up and I was in serious pain after the concert so we had to pass. I was super bummed because I have a feeling that show would have come close to Madonna herself. Le sigh.
I’l leave you with a video that was played at the concert:
I think we know who she’ll be voting for tomorrow…
